1. Information we collect

When you create a Yapzi account, we collect your name, email address, and chosen username. You may optionally provide a profile photo and a short bio. We do not require a phone number.

When you use Yapzi, we collect the messages you send and receive, files you upload, and metadata such as timestamps and delivery status. We also collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, device type) for security and abuse prevention purposes.

2. How we use your information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the Yapzi service. This includes delivering your messages, processing payments for Premium subscriptions, sending transactional emails (such as account verification), and detecting and preventing abuse.

We do not use your data to serve advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Data sharing

We share your data only with the following categories of service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate Yapzi:

• Cloud infrastructure providers (hosting and storage) • Payment processor (Stripe, for Premium subscriptions) • Translation service (Microsoft Azure, for auto-translation of messages) • AI provider (OpenAI, for AI Digital Agent replies)

All providers are contractually bound to process your data only as instructed by us and in accordance with applicable data protection law.

4. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, financial records related to payments).

Messages are stored to enable multi-device sync. You can delete individual messages or entire conversations at any time.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights including: the right to access the personal data we hold about you; the right to correct inaccurate data; the right to request deletion of your data; the right to object to or restrict certain processing; and the right to data portability.

7. Security

We take the security of your data seriously. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. For more detail, see our Security page.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you by email or in-app notification.
